James (Jamie) Paul Phillips died unexpectedly in his sleep at his home on Monday, July 27, in Sylvania, Ohio. He was 45 years old.

A treasured gift to Don and Pattie (Painter) Phillips of Warsaw, Jamie is survived by his best friend ever, his son: Jacob Phillips, Maumee, Ohio; his mother: Pattie; brother: Jeff (Jennifer) Phillips; nephews: Wyatt and Lincoln Phillips; and a niece: Radley Phillips all of Leesburg. Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive in Indiana, Ill, Mich., and Ariz. He is preceded in death by his father: Don Phillips; and niece: Adele Phillips.

Jamie was born on July 21, 1970 in Warsaw. He worked many places and lived in several states and cities in his life. Ultimately, he was a baseball player who became a car guy and at his core was a genuine people person who always wanted to have fun and enjoy life. The greatest enjoyment of his life was being with, teaching, coaching, and having fun with his son Jacob. Bo said, “Those who stay will be champions”. For those who knew Jamie, we can help champion the love that Jamie showed throughout his life for his family and for his son as we honor his life.

There will be a celebration of life from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at his brother’s residence, 5403 N. Sawgrass Lane, Leesburg.

Jamie and Jacob constantly talked about the dreams they had for the future. To honor those dreams a Memorial Fund is set up for Jacob and gifts will be accepted in his name at both celebrations. Gifts can also be mailed to 1245 Westfield Dr., Maumee OH, 43537.
