ETNA GREEN — Heather Shepherd has successfully completed the course in auctioneering and auction sales management at the Missouri Auction School.
The diploma granted included the honorary title, “colonel,” a tradition dating from the Civil War.
The concentrated course is conducted by the Missouri Auction School at the world’s largest auction training center, which has been featured in Forbes magazine and has been labeled the “Harvard of Auction Schools.”
The training included lectures and workshops featuring prominent auctioneers from throughout America and participating in selling numerous public auctions near St. Louis. Subjects covered included antiques, livestock, furniture, business liquidations, real estate, auto, machinery, general merchandise and estate auctions.
Shepherd also recently returned again from St. Louis, Mo., having successfully completed the course in personal property appraisal at the Certified Appraisers Guild of America, which earns her the title of certified personal property appraiser.
Theis course is conducted by the Certified Appraisers Guild of America which is North America’s largest trainer of personal property appraisers. Subjects covered included the appraisal of antiques, farm, livestock and business properties. The course also included the requirements for valuing estates, bankruptcy, insurance, divorce and providing expert testimony in court.
Since returning, Shepherd has obtained her Indiana State Auctioneers License and has established Heather Shepherd Auction and Appraisals LLC.
