Rex WerstlerDaniel Rex Werstler of Leesburg, known to all as Rex, passed away unexpectedly as a result from injuries sustained in a farming accident at 5:45 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2015 at the age of 62.

He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. He was the treasurer of his class and 1971 graduate of Pierceton High School. Rex had worked for Gragg Equipment in Warsaw for many years, as well as for Warsaw Napa Auto Parts. He was self-employed and was the owner of Rex’s Repair in Pierceton. Over the years he was employed at various companies…working for a many years at Sharp Hardware Store in Milford, and later at Warsaw Chemical. Most recently he had been working for the past ten years in Leesburg, for Polk Equipment.

Rex loved to farm, enjoyed it very much as a hobby. He was an active member of Echoes of the Past in Warsaw, member of the Pierceton Jaycees for many years, and an avid member of Indiana International Harvester Collectors Chapter 33. Rex will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.

He was born on Jan. 24, 1953, in Warsaw, to Clarence Ray Werstler and Donna Belle (Brinckman) Werstler. On Dec. 6, 1980, he was married to Carol Anne (Fields) Werstler, who survives.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son: Rodney (Mindi) Poehler, Frankfort; three daughters: April (Tony) Kindig, Warsaw; Dawn (Dennis) Boggs, Warsaw; and Robin (Chris) Williamson, Leesburg; eight grandchildren: Danielle; Andrea; David; Briana; Carissa; Dean; Taby; and Trevor; and two great-grandchildren: Addison; and Luke. He also leaves behind his brother: Tim (Sue) Werstler, Larwill; sister: Vicki (John) Camden, Pierceton; and sister-in-law: Donna Werstler, Larwill. He was preceded in death by his father: Ray, in 2005; his mother: Donna, in 2015; and his brother: Mike Westerler, in 2014.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw. There will also be an hour of viewing on the day of his service on Friday from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.

His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 31, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiate by Rex’s nephew Nick Werstler. A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery of Pierceton.
