NEW PARIS — Ralph Prater, 51, Syracuse, complained of back pain following a four-vehicle chain reaction accident on SR 15, near CR 146, south of New Paris. Prater was taken to IU Health Goshen for treatment.

Elkhart County Police report Micah Yoder, 21, Bourbon, was northbound on SR 15, approaching CR 146 behind the Prater vehicle. Prater began slowing down for backed up traffic when his vehicle was struck from behind by the Yoder vehicle.

Prater’s vehicle was pushed into the southbound lane hitting a vehicle driven by Cristobal Castillo, 21, Nappanee. Prater’s vehicle then struck the back of a northbound truck driven by Darrell Roberts Jr., 43, Elkkart.
