Barbara KnepperBarbara J. Knepper, age 71, of Plymouth, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, in Plymouth.

Barbara was born on Sept. 15, 1943, in Mishawaka, to Harry and Dorothy (Hoover) Zeigler. Barbara became the bride of James E. Knepper, on June 13, 1964. They were married in Argos. James preceded Barbara in passing on June 26, 1995.

Barbara’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her family. Barbara previously worked at the A&W Root Beer Stand, in Plymouth, and retired from Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home as a Dietary Aide. She collected Elvis memorabilia, clocks, and ducks. She loved to scrap book. One of her favorite collections was Thomas Kincade.

Barbara is survived by her loving son: John (Melissa) Knepper, Argos; grandchildren: Andrew “A.J.” Swihart; and Austin Knepper, both of Plymouth; son-in-law: Kim Swihart, Plymouth; sisters: Sandra Kaiser, Mishawaka; Sheron (David) Snyder, Osceola; and Sue Silvers, Elkhart. Barbara was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband: James; her daughter: Janet Swihart, on May 5, 2014; three brothers: D. Jim Zeigler; H. Butch Zeigler; and Richard Zeigler; and her sister: Carolyn Ellis.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16, and from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, before the 11 a.m. funeral services. Visitation and the service will be held at Van Gilder Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by Chaplain Alex Jack, and burial will be at New Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to The Center for Hospice Care, Plymouth, or to donor’s choice.
