Ernest LeedyErnest W. Leedy, 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, July 12, 2015, in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.

On Aug. 31, 1922, he was born in Warsaw, to Edward and Grace (Harman) Leedy. He was united in marriage to Mary E. Spradlin on Aug. 19, 1944, whom preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 2011.

Ernest lived in Warsaw and Claypool before moving to Etna Green in 1974. He started Bike Messenger Boy when he was the age of 18. He also worked as an office manager for Western Union, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, where he was active in teaching teenage and adult Sunday school classes. He was a part-time farmer his whole life and a member of National Berkshire Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and he loved to go fishing and hunting.

Ernest is survived by his son: Kelly Leedy, Etna Green; his daughter: Ernestine Shepherd, Claypool; son-in-law: Monroe “Buddy” Shepherd, Claypool; and three grandchildren: Teresa (Dennis) Crews, Silver Lake; Darrell (Cora) Ellis, Anderson; and Donna (John) Swanson, Columbus. He was also preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 16, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Denny Bollenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green.

Visitation hours will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, in the funeral chapel.
