Special Olympics Offers Fun For Locals
By TERRY SHEPHERD
Jerry Davis went to the Special Olympics this past weekend of June. All athletes of Indiana were able to participate in the many competitions that were offered. The event was held in Terre Haute in southern Indiana.
Jerry said that he enjoyed the entire weekend. His favorite activity was bocce ball, where he won a medal. When Jerry wasn’t participating he enjoyed walking through the tent sales. When he saw someone in a wheelchair that needed assistance, he went immediately to help.
From our area here locally, there were 35 athletes and 15 coaches. Jerry said he was sad to see the fun weekend come to an end, but is looking forward to the next event.
