UPDATE: Since the rain started, we have received reports of areas with standing water. A vehicle reportedly got stuck under the viaduct on Columbia Street. Several cars have been reported stalling out at intersections along Detroit Street through downtown Warsaw.

Please use caution until water subsides. If you come upon an area of standing water, consider an alternate route. Heed warnings put out by the street department.

The flash flood watch has been upgraded to an advisory. Areas affected will include Warsaw, Winona Lake, Syracuse, Milford, North Webster, Pierceton, Mentone, Etna Green Leesburg, Claypool, Burket, Sidney, Little Chapman Lake, Tippecanoe Lake, Oakwood Park, Big Barbee Lake, Beaver Dam, Clunette, Irish Lake and Hatings. 

A flash flood watch has been issued for Kosciusko and surrounding counties and will be in effect until late tonight.

Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are expected to become widespread across the area this afternoon and tonight as a slow moving cold front moves into the area. This, combined with recent heavy rains, will result in high streams and river levels that could result in flash flooding.

People living near streams, rivers and in urban areas are especially susceptible to flash flooding.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. The National Weather Service advises to monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
