Summer Reading Programs Begin

Summer reading programs kick off on Tuesday, June 9. Children and teens begin sign-up to earn reading rewards. Children receive weekly prizes when they play a game sheet. Teens enter a weekly drawing and choose a new book. Children are also rewarded with a bus ride to the Fort Wayne Zoo after they complete four weeks of reading.

The magic tricks of Ronald McDonald begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, the beginning of a series of family events.All events this summer are open and free with Thursday tea times, reading to Echo, reading with a volunteer, and Friday films. Young adults meet at 2 p.m. each Wednesday. The first week is to fill in the lines by painting a super-hero portrait for the YA area.

Book Clubs

Adults can look forward to two book clubs this summer. A new book club about Florida authors is meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 18. Suggested readings are “Sick Puppy”, “Star Island” and “Bad Monkey.” The book club, ‘One Book, One Hour’, meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10 to talk about an Indian/pioneer tale told by James Alexander Thom. An open invitation is extended to anyone interested in a discussion of “Follow the River.” Further information is available at the Syracuse Library, on the website www.syracuse.lib.in.us,or by calling (574) 457-3022.
