Kosciusko County officials are currently investigating a vehicular traffic fatality that occurred this afternoon, Thursday, June 4, that claimed the life of a Warsaw woman.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded today at 2:10 p.m. to the intersection of US 30 and CR 350 West in regards to a reported vehicular crash. Barbara J. Wagner, 78, Warsaw, was located inside her 2007 Ford Escape, and pronounced dead by Kosciusko County Coroner Michael Wilson.  Wilson stated that Wagner died of blunt force injuries she received as a result of the crash.

Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team members stated that a preliminary investigation into the crash has determined that Wagner had been traveling southbound on CR 350 West. Wagner had initially stopped at the intersection, according to witness statements. She suddenly proceeded directly into the path of a westbound 1997 Ford F250 pickup truck driven by Matthew W. Roeder, 16, Plymouth. Roeder was not injured in the crash, nor was his passenger.

Officers stated that the crash is still currently under investigation.

The Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team was assisted at the scene by members of the Atwood Fire Department, Multi-Township E.M.S., Warsaw Police Department, Indiana State Police, and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
