A Fort Wayne man is facing multiple charges, including child neglect, after he admitted to police that he left two of his children home alone and took a 2 month old along with him to buy cocaine.
Michael L. Johnson, 26, was pulled over at approximately 3 a.m. June 5 by an officer with the Fort Wayne Police Department. During the stop, Johnson admitted to the officer he had left his four and five year old children at his apartment for about 45 minutes while he went out to purchase cocaine.
Johnson’s two month old infant was in the car with him when he was pulled over. Police found the cocaine Johnson had bought under the car seat wrapped in a piece of paper.
Other officers were dispatched to the apartment and found the door unlocked. The children were found asleep and safe, and released into the custody of their mother.
Johnson faces three felony counts of neglect of a dependent, a felony count of possession of cocaine and a misdemeanor count of taking a child into a nuisance.
