Harold G. LoweryHarold G. Lowery, 93, Winona Lake, passed away at 2 a.m. Sunday, May 31, at his home at Grace Village Retirement Community.

Harold was born in Muncie on Nov. 20, 1921, to Arthur C. and Devona M. (Sharpe) Lowery. On Dec. 24, 1942, he married Gladys Dunnuck and served with the United States Army during World War II.

Living most of his life in Warsaw, he was the co-owner along with his wife of Lowery Sewing Center for 20 years retiring in 1974. Harold was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Oswego. He belonged to and was past president of Independent Sewing Machine Dealers of America. He was a member of Gideon’s International and was a member and past president of Warsaw Chamber of Commerce.

Harold is survived by two daughters: Linda (Dean) Harman, Leesburg; and Landra (David) Grant, Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren: Landon (Kim) Harman, Sharpsburg, Ga.; Britton (Jodi) Harman, Jocotenango, Guatemala; Adam (Mindy) Harman, Winona Lake; Amy (Bubba) Hogan, Bartlett, Tenn.; Jessica (roger) Bowman, Deatsville, Ala.; and 18 grandchildren. Preceding Harold in death is his wife: Gladys, on April 11, 2014; sister: Carolyn Hertling; brother: Donald Lowery; and an infant brother.

Family and friends will come together for a time of sharing in support of one another from 10 a.m. until noon Friday, June 5, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A service celebrating Harold’s life will follow beginning at noon. Pastor Rick Smith, former pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, where military graveside honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.

The family has asked that gifts in memory of Harold be directed to Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice or Gideon’s International Warsaw.
