Remember last year when we announced a feature film would be shot in the Winona Lake/Warsaw area?

After a bit of a delay, “Nouvelle Vie” is finally set to begin filming at the end of this month. And the production crew could use a little help from the area residents.

“We’re looking for all sort of assets,” says Erin Bethea, a producer and lead actress in the film. “We have all kinds of stuff. We have auditions going on Saturday and Sunday at the Wyndham. We have a table set up at the art fair. We’re looking for anyone who wants to be involved in any way.”

Auditions will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 6 and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 7 at Wyndham Garden, 2519 E. Center St., Warsaw. Anyone, male or female ages 8 and older, can audition for speaking roles or to be an extra.

Bethea says the film will be family-friendly, no objectionable content, so have no fear if you have a child that would like to try out. Producers are also looking for older cars, preferably from the 80s or 90s, and other sorts of props for the film.

“We start shooting on June 22,” says Bethea. “We encourage people to get their submissions in by June 21.” Note: anyone interested in a speaking role must audition this weekend.

“‘Nouvelle Vie’ is a romance,” says Bethea, who starred in the 2008 feature “Fireproof” with Kirk Cameron. “It’s basically the story of two people who meet as children and their lives together.” Bethea compares it to the popular Nicholas Sparks stories.

Drew Waters, of television’s “Friday Night Lights” fame, will make his feature film directorial debut with “Nouvelle Vie.” “He’s very excited,” she says.

The film is set to shoot in various locations around Winona Lake and Warsaw from June 22 to July 22. For additional information, visit www.newlifethemovie.com.
