Edgar Eugene Hummel, 76, of Bremen, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 7:02 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2015, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

Edgar was born on Nov. 8, 1938, in LaPorte, the son of Howard and Iona J. (Hough) Hummel. On Sept. 5, 1959, in North Liberty, he married Betty L. Elkins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Betty; son: David (Brenda) Hummel, Bremen, and daughter: Rosalie Rogers, Bremen; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings: Florence Holesovsky, Loveland, Colo.; Floyd Hummel, Plymouth; Nancy Rust, Bremen; Donald (Lynda) Hummel, Walkerton; Dennis (Jill) Hummel, LaPaz; Retha (Robert) Hunsburger, Etna Green; and brother-in-law: John Elkins, North Liberty. He is preceded in death by his parents; son: Leroy A. Hummel, and sister: Patricia Cossey.

Edgar retired from Bremen Castings after more than 34 years in maintenance. He also loved family and carpentry. He was a loving husband, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

Friends and family will gather from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Timothy Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery.

The family prefers memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.
