Maurice M. “Maurie” McDaniel, 97, of Warsaw, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw.
He was born on March 13, 1918, to Joseph and Cora (Koser) McDaniel, Warsaw.
Maurie graduated from Atwood High School in Atwood in 1937. He married Hattie M. Stidham on April 29, 1940, in Wilmore, Ky., and was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County.
He was a poultry farmer, a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, charter member of Atwood Lions Club; was on the Kosciusko County Drainage Board; awarded the Outstanding Citizen of Kosciusko County; and was grand marshal and honorary mayor of the Atwood Centennial Celebration.
He is survived by two sons: John B. (Paula) McDaniel, Warsaw; Bruce (Darcy) McDaniel, Loveland, Colo.; one daughter: Rebecca McDaniel, Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister: Ruth Wehrenberg, Libertyville, Ill.
Maurie was preceded in death by wife: Hattie “Pat” McDaniel, on Aug. 17, 2003; and sister: Frances Williams.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Services will be immediately after at 1 p.m. and will be officiated by Pastor Denny Wilson from Warsaw Community Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
