
Lakeland Christian Academy announces its honor students for the Class of 2015. In addition to valedictorian and salutatorian, Lakeland Christian also awards a Timothian Award.
Valedictorian is Abbey Hartwiger, daughter of Robert and Aimee Hartwiger. She has attended LCA for six years. She earned a cumulative numeric average of 100.09. Hartwiger led an LCA community service group, is a member of the National Honor Society, has served in both Kosciusko Endowment Youth Services and Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy and is the President of the Class of 2015. She plans to attend Grace College in the fall to study marketing.
Salutatorian Maryl Gerst, daughter of Todd and Karen Gerst. She is this year’s salutatorian and co-Timothian Award recipient. She earned a cumulative numeric average of 99.41. She has attended LCA for 4-1/2 years. Gerst is the senior class vice president and a National Honor Society member. She has been active in the LCA athletic department participating in volleyball and basketball. Gerst will attend Purdue University in the fall to study nursing.
The 2015 Timothian Award recipient is Andrew Nieveen, son of Scott and Julie Nieveen. Nieveen has attended LCA for six years and has been a part of Lakeland Christian’s athletic department participating in soccer and golf. He is a member of the National Honor Society, where he serves as the vice president and is the secretary of the class of 2015. Nieveen plans to attend Moody Bible Institute in the fall.
The Timothian Award is unique to LCA based on 1 Timothy 4:12 and is awarded by the faculty to the seniors who exhibit excellence in spiritual leadership and character.
Lakeland Christian Academy’s ceremony will be held on May 30, at Lakeland Christian Academy, Winona Lake.
