Elizabeth Ann ReamElizabeth Ann “Betty” Ream, 96, of Wabash, died at 6:40 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2015, at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester. She was born June 30, 1918, in Fort Wayne, to Menno and Mary (Myers) Roth.

Betty was a Harlan High School graduate. She married John H. Ream in Fort Wayne, on Dec. 26, 1941; he died January 24, 1984. She was baptized at the Harlan Church of Christ in 1931. She was a former member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ and a current member of the First United Methodist Church, both in Wabash. Betty had a combined membership in these churches of over 50 years. She loved playing her harmonica and everyone loved to hear her play in church. After she moved to Peabody in 2013, she continued playing there. In her earlier years she worked at the Stratford House, Gackenheimer’s Pharmacy, and Vernon Manor Children’s Home, retiring in 1962. Betty loved playing Scrabble, watching Cubs baseball and Indiana Basketball. She also loved bird watching from her window at Peabody.

She is survived by two children: Cheryl A. (Orion) Carter, Sebring, Fla.; and Patricia (Jim) Vanlandingham, Wabash; four grandchildren: Neil (Abby) Davis, Andrews; John (Regina) Davis, Wabash; Dereck (Kim) Vanlandingham, Westchester, Ill.; Tiffany (Steve Wnuk) Vanlandingham, Milwaukee, Wis.; great-grandson: Isaac Davis, Wabash; three sisters: Kathlee Thomas, Fort Wayne; Jean (Lawrence) Kennedy, Huntington; and Norma (Cy) Gustin, Harlan; and her sister-in-law: Dorothy Roth, Grabill.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Roger Roth; and Max Roth.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Granstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash, with Dr. Kent Young officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, May 22, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is First United Methodist Church or Vernon Manor Children’s Home, both of Wabash.
