Dorothy R. HerringDorothy R. Herring, 88, of Goshen, died Friday morning, May 15, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse, where she resided the past month.

She was born March 16, 1927, in Chicago to Henry and Emily (Brauneis) Van Zuilen.

On April 12, 1947, she married Robert D. Herring in White Pigeon, Mich. He died July 7, 1997.

An area resident since 1947 she and her husband co-owned Herring’s dental laboratory, Goshen.

Mrs. Herring was a member and Deacon at First Presbyterian Church, Goshen where she also served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a campfire leader and Cub Scout den mother.

Survivors include a daughter: Carol (Devon) Manns, Syracuse; a son: Mark (Paula) Herring, Leesburg; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Darlene (Leland) DePue, Middlebury.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson: Craig Whetten; a brother: Donald Van Zuilen; and a sister: June Hostetler.

Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory, Goshen.

A graveside memorial service will be planned at a later date at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
