The Tippecanoe Valley softball team dropped a 7-5 final at Rochester Thursday night.
Katie Gunter led the way for the Vikings in the Three Rivers Conference contest. She had two hits, including a home run, and scored a pair of runs.
Amanda Shepherd had two hits with a double and an RBI. Darian Dotson also had a double and drove in a run for Valley.
Kennedy Shepherd, who took the pitching loss, had a double and an RBI.
Valley, now 3-13, will host Central Noble Saturday at 10 a.m. for a doubleheader.
Boys Track Team Fifth at TRC
The Valley boys track team finished in fifth place Thursday night at the Three Rivers Conference meet.
Wabash won the meet with 142.5 points, while Whitko was second with 112.5. The Vikings were fifth with 56 points in the meet contested at Southwood High School.
The 4 X 100 relay team earned a conference championship to lead the Vikings. The foursome of Michael Thacker, Neil Clampitt, Deontee Smith and Dakota Parker won the race in a top time of 44.63.
Clampitt also placed fourth in the 400 and fifth in the long jump for Valley. Thacker was third in the 100.
Aaron Hoffman had a strong showing as he took second in the discus and placed fourth in the shot put for the Vikings.
Valley will compete in the sectional at Plymouth on May 21.
Girls Track Team Seventh at TRC
The Valley girls track team scored 44 points Thursday night to finish in seventh place at the Three Rivers Conference Meet.
Lexi O’Connell was the top performer for the Vikings. She won the TRC title in the 100 hurdles with a winning effort of 16.64.
Makayla Ruiz placed second in the shot put for Valley.
Whitko won the girls team title with 122.5 points.
Zimpleman Leads Golf Victory
Bryce Zimpleman collected medalist honors to pace Valley past Whitko 175-183 in a Three Rivers Conference golf match.
Zimpleman shot a two-over 38 at Mill Creek in Rochester.
Trevor Neeley shot a 44, while Cole Cumberland had a 46 and Jeremy Julian and Corey Carson each had a 47 for the Vikings in the win.
Cole Bechtold led the Wildcats with a 42. Matt Hathaway shot a 45, Will Peters a 46, Tim Mensch a 50 and Kaleb Busz a 54 for Whitko.
Both teams will participate in the TRC Meet Saturday at Rozella Ford in Warsaw.
