The school year is almost ready for the history books, and everyone is aware of what that means. Kids will be pretty much free of their school year obligations, and looking for something enriching and educational to do. Sure, they will. But, parents and other caregivers will be ready.
Warsaw provides many resources, and the library is an important part of what is available.
On Monday, June 8, registration will begin for our children’s summer reading program. No library card is required, and all programs are free. Children ages newborn to fifth grade are eligible to participate. Sixth graders can participate with teens, or can opt to do the children’s program.
Registration will take place at the library, or can be done online starting on Monday, June 8. Prizes will be given for completed reading starting Monday, June 15, and will continue through the end of the program at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18.
The library will sponsor “Stories in the Park” at Center Lake Park from 11 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Mondays in June. We will also have musician Tom Sieling, Ronald MacDonald, a superhero show, and Kasey the Fire Dog visiting us in June and July. Those four programs will require registration by phone or at the children’s reference desk.
Other activities include a movie day and summer Lego’s, an always popular activity here at the library.
Our Summer Reading Program theme will be “Every Hero has a Story”. Kids and superheroes go together like green eggs and ham. Look for books about heroes and superheroes displayed throughout our department during the Summer Reading Program, and come share your story with us.
