Milford Fest, sponsored by the Milford Lions Club, is taking place next weekend. Downtown Milford will be converted into its annual festival on Saturday, May 23. This event will take place all day, with events from 7-9 p.m., rain or shine.

The Kiwanis will kick of the day with their traditional pancake and sausage breakfast. Head down to the Milford Community Building between 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. to fuel up for a long day of entertainment and activities.

The biggest draw to the carnival is that all of the rides are free. Children are able to enjoy carnival and pony rides all day long.

There won’t be a shortage on food at this year’s Milford Fest. The Milford Firemen will be selling their ribeye steak sandwiches from 11 a.m. until they sell out. The Milford Lions Club will be selling hamburgers and sausage burgers from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to remember to pre-register for the cutie contest and talent show. Pre-registration will make the contests run smoother. Cutie contest participants need to arrive at 9:15 a.m., with the contest taking place at 10 a.m. on the Main Street stage. At 1:30 the crowning of the senior king and queen will take place. Check in for the talent show starts at 2:30 p.m. with the talent showcase beginning at 3 p.m.

Live entertainment will take place throughout the day on the Main Street stage. These acts will include Samuel Jay & Ethan Dane at 12:30 p.m., DJ Greenhooys at 2 p.m., and street dancing by Ripchord at 5 p.m.

There are many activities besides live entertainment taking place throughout the day, including the car/tractor/motorcycle show and a car smash provided by Stuckman’s Salvage and Glen’s Wrecker Service. Other activities include the Friends of the Library Book Sale, food and craft vendors and the community wide garage sales.

“I look forward to seeing how happy everyone is,” said Milford Fest Chair Tricia Gall. “Just come prepared to have fun.”

Milford Fest is only possible because of the large sponsorship it receives. The Milford Lions Club and other local businesses contribute to the day.
