Lewis Russel HutchesonLewis Russell Hutcheson, 87, of Somerset, Indiana, died at 12:35 p.m, Saturday May 9, at Parkview Wabash Hospital. He was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Indianapolis, to Hubert and Mildred (Bolander) Hutcheson.

Lewis served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952 on the U.S.S. Wasp aircraft carrier. He married Virignia Ruth Gates, she preceded him in death. He worked for Penn Central and Norfolk-Southern Railroads, owned Hutch’s Gun Shop in Fortville in 1964, owned a shoe shop in Wabash in the late 1970’s, and sold shoes on the road. He attended Woodlawn United Methodist Church and was a member of the Fortville V.F.W. He enjoyed flea marketing, antiquing, garage sales, hunting bargains, gunsmithing, camping, fishing, and watching old western films.

He is survived by three children: Barbara Terrell, Fortville; Donna (Michael) Fouts, Somerset; and Donald Hutcheson, Wabash; five grandchildren: Danny (Nicole) Shetterley, Fortville; Amanda (Jeff) Hodges, Chesterfield, Virginia; Damin Long and Dawn (Grant) Kelley, Wabash; and Sara (Brantley) See, Macy; eight great-grandchildren: Nick; Olivia; Emma; Kaylee; Jaxson; Noah; Rhagan; and Addison; two great great-grandchildren: Cameron; and Nick; sister: Glenna McFadden, Wisconsin; and significant other: Betty Walters, Wabash.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash, and from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at the Gravel Lawn Cemetery Chapel prior to the 3 p.m. graveside service and burial. Pastor Herb Hughs will officiate.

Preferred memorial is Wabash-Miami Home Health Care and Hospice.
