Warsaw SportsThe Warsaw girls tennis junior varsity team earned a third-place finish Saturday in the Northern Lakes Conference Tournament.

Plymouth totaled 27 points to claim the team championship in the eight-team event contested at WCHS.

Concord was second in the team standings with 15 points. Warsaw was third with 13, followed by NorthWood (12), Goshen (10), Elkhart Memorial (nine), Northridge (eight) and Wawasee (one).

Libby Jenkins led Warsaw at No. 2 singles. She lost to Cortni Cook of Plymouth by an 8-2 final in the second place match.

Grace Miller lost 8-6 to Alia Alailima of Northridge in the third place match at No. 1 singles for the Tigers.

The Warsaw No. 2 doubles team Sophia Parke and Greer Smith defeated Paulina Medina and Ana Avila of Goshen  8-2 in their third place match.

Julie Frazzetta of the Tigers lost 8-2 to Molly Mccullough of Memorial in the fifth place match at No. 3 singles.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Jenn Katris and Chesley Farling lost to Victoria Oaks and Jordan Kauffman of Northridge 8-2 for sixth place.

Warsaw is slated to play at Goshen Monday night. In the even of rain, the match will be played indoors at Warsaw Tennis & Fitness and will be a varsity only match.

Warsaw JV Golfers Win Own Invitational

Tim Rata led the way as the Warsaw junior varsity boys golf team won its own invitational Saturday at Rozella Ford.

Rata shot a round of 79 to place second individually for the champions.

Warsaw shot a team score of 327 to earn the title. North ridge was second at 332, followed by NorthWood (356), Wawasee (366), Plymouth (398), Triton (400), Elkhart Memorial (402) and Concord (403).

Sam Yeager finished with a round of 80 to place fourth overall for Warsaw. Luke Delp was fifth overall with a round of 81.

Jacob LaLonde shot an 87 and Tommy Meier had a 90 for the Tigers.

The Warsaw varsity was rained out Saturday at the Westfield Invitational at the Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.

Warsaw is scheduled to play host Plymouth and Elkhart Memorial tonight (May 11) in conference action at the Plymouth Country Club. The Tigers will then face host Concord and Goshen in another NLC triangular on Thursday at Bent Oak in Elkhart.
