Winnebago Towables in Middlebury announced plans May 5 to expand operations, creating up to 150 new jobs by 2019.

A subsidiary of Winnebago Industries, Forest City, Iowa, the company invested approximately $5.4 million in April to purchase four new facilities. It plans to grow production as well as invest up to $250,000 in equipment over the next few years in response to a growing demand for its line of towable recreational vehicles.

“We are pleased with the opportunity to grow our manufacturing footprint in Middlebury,” stated Randy Potts, chairman, CEO and president of Winnebago Industries. “We greatly appreciate the support provided to us by the state of Indiana, Elkhart county and the city of Middlebury and we look forward to continued growth and future success here.”

Winnebago currently employs roughly 2,800 associates nationally. Once the new facilities are fully staffed, approximately 280 of those workers will be in Indiana. The company is currently hiring for manufacturing positions. Those interested may apply online at winnebagoind.com/company/careers.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Winnebago of Indiana, LLC up to $1.925 million in conditional tax credits and up to $75,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. The credits are performance-based. The city of Middlebury will consider additional incentives per the request of the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County.
