WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School standout Tim Swanson put his signature on several key buckets from beyond the three-point line this year for the Warsaw basketball program, and the senior sharp shooter put it on a letter of intent this week, declaring he will continue his education and basketball play at Grace College in the fall.

Swanson helped lead the Tigers to a tremendous season as a senior, as Warsaw captured the Northern Lakes Conference championship with a perfect 7-0 mark. Swanson’s dependable and steady play also helped Warsaw coach Doug Ogle’s squad earn impressive victories over state-ranked opponents en route to a tremendous 18-5 mark.

Not only did Swanson establish himself as a threat from the perimeter, shooting a blistering 46 percent from long range as a senior (38-83) and 45 percent in his career (69-152), he was a steady hand at the free throw line as he finished his high school career with an 88 percent mark, and finished his senior season averaging seven points a game.

While the senior ballplayer showed discipline and dedication on the court, he also assisted in a variety of service roles in the community with many organizations, and he did so while performing among the top in his class academically and working for an 11.69 GPA on a 12-point scale.

Swanson will join his brother, John, a 2013 WCHS graduate and Warsaw basketball player, on the Grace College basketball roster. The Lancers, under coach Jim Kessler, racked up a tremendous 23-13 record last season.
