Syracuse Fire Department and Paramedics are responding to a report of a house fire at 1034 N. Huntington St., Syracuse.

The female occupant of the home was rescued by Syracuse Firefighter Lee Gardner and Syracuse Police Officer Joe Leach. She was transported by the EMS to IU Health Goshen.

According to Gardner, the fire was in the kitchen and was contained to that room. Fans were used to remove the smoke from the home.

Benton Township Fire Department was initially called for a full assist, but was later disregarded.

North Huntington Street is currently closed between Beach and Bailey streets, in the area of the fire.
