Henry SpriggsHenry Spriggs, 79, of Peru, passed away at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, at his home.

He was born on June 23, 1935, to the late Roosevelt and Grace M. (Spears) Spriggs, in Pikeville, Ky.

Henry worked as a truck driver and foundry worker. He married Deloris Justice on March 27, 1963.

He is survived by his wife: Deloris; his sons: Henry Spriggs Jr., Peru; Jeffrey Spriggs, Peru; Michael (Lora) Spriggs, Kokomo; Steven (Nikkie) Spriggs, Peru; daughters: Pamela Galbreath, Peru; Teresa (Brad) Boyd, Logansport; Susie (Daniel) Stutzman, Peru; Gloria (James) King, Peru; brothers: Franklin (Mary) Spriggs, Cicero, Ill.; John (Carol) Spriggs, North Manchester; sister: Jeanette (Willie) Shepherd, Pierceton; 21 grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents; one brother; and six sisters.

Henry was a veteran of the Marines, and fought in the Korean War 1953-1956. He was a member of Church of the Brethren, Logansport. He was also a life member of the Peru VFW post 2067.

Calling hours will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at McKee Mortuary, located at 1401 SR 114 W., North Manchester. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, the mortuary, officiated by Pastor Aron Gross. Burial will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Memorials may be given to the Cancer Society.
