Phylis M. Zolman
Phylis M. Zolman, 87, a former resident of Churubusco and wife of Robert Zolman, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at the Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla, with her family by her side.
Mrs. Zolman was born in Churubusco on July 29, 1927, a daughter of Merl and Fanny (Hossinger) Leitch. She spent her formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1945.
On Oct. 6, 1946, she was married in Churubusco to Robert Zolman, and was always a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. The couple spent all of their adult lives in Churubusco except for a seven year period living in Dallas, Texas. Employed by Smith-Green Community Schools for 28 years, she had worked as the office manager for Churubusco High School and as the secretary-treasurer for the school corporation.
The surviving relatives include her husband: Robert, to whom she was married for over 68 years; her children: Sherry (Ronald) Johnson, Columbia City, and Randy (Diane) Zolman, Churubusco; four grandchildren: Tim (Janelle) Johnson and Melissa (Roy) Stuckey, both of Churubusco, Amy (Matt) Weyer of Ferdinand, Ind., and Andrew Zolman, serving with the U. S. Army; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Everett Leitch and Paul Leitch; and by her sister: Virginia Watson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at the Sheets and Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with her niece Pastor Nikki Marker, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 p.. to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Thursday morning.
Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
