Donald W. ‘Don’ Hicks, 58, of Syracuse, passed away at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at his home.

He was born on April 1, 1957, in War, W.Va., to John L. and Ethel M. (Hicks) Hicks.

He moved to Kendallville area in the 1970’s from West Virginia and to the Syracuse/Milford area in 1980. He attended Berwind Public Schools in McDowell County, W.Va., and served in the United States Army. On Dec. 22, 1980, in Milford he married Lillie “Diane” Blackburn who survives.

He retired as Auto Body Repair and RV technician; formerly worked for Fox RV in Middlebury and Mike’s Customer Auto Body in Bremen. He attended Word of Truth Ministries in Milford.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters: Jessica Elizabeth Hicks, Georgetown, S.C.; Tamara (Jamison) Tanner, Leesburg; Michelle (Chad) Dailing, Milford; two sons: Shane Eric (Brittany) Blackburn, Warsaw; Paul David Johnson, Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers: David Hicks, Syracuse; Roger (Julie) Hicks, Osceola; three sisters: Glenora (Marcus) Rose, Ashland, Ky.; Nola Marshall, North Webster; Patricia Roston, Washington; two stepsisters; and three stepbrothers.

He was preceded by his parents; twin brother: Ronald Hicks; sister: Norma Gentry; two brothers: Bud Benton and Richard (Ricky) Goodyear; two stepsisters and one stepbrother.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 24, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, in the funeral home with Pastor Mike and Dee Kelley of the church officiating. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery.
