Hollar Earns Medalist Honors

Warsaw SportsWINONA LAKE – Jonny Hollar felt right at home Saturday.

The Warsaw senior standout turned in an outstanding round to earn medalist honors in the Don Dicken Classic hosted by the Tigers.

Hollar fired a one over round par total of 72 in a loaded field at the Stonehenge Golf Club.

Hollar, who helped coach Ben Barkey’s program reach the State Finals in both 2012 and 2013, had five birdies and just one bogey in the field loaded with some of the state’s top prep golfers.

Warsaw shot 316 as a team to place fifth in the 15-team field.

No. 1 ranked Westfield captured the team championship with a 298. Homestead and No. 4 Carmel tied for second place honors at 308. No. 5 Hamilton Southeastern was fourth with a 312, followed by Warsaw (316), No. 15 Noblesville (318), Lake Central (324), No. 11 Crown Point (326), Avon (327), Columbus North (329), Fort Wayne Canterbury (341), Mishawaka Marian (347), Triton (349), Boone Grove (354) and the Warsaw B team (357).

Brandon Eckert also turned in a strong effort for the Tigers with a round of 78.

Ryan Cultic shot an 81, Reid Cameron an 85 and Michael Jensen 89 for the hosts.

Luke Johnson led the Warsaw B team with an 85.

Tim Rata shot an 89, Andrew Gauger 90, Sam Yeager 93, Jacob LaLonde 94, Tommy Meier 96 and Luke Delp 116.

Warsaw returns to action Saturday in the Fort Wayne Concordia Invitational.
