Reminder: The Nappanee Public Library will close at noon Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday. Regular hours will resume at 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, April 4. The library will be closed Easter Sunday, April 5.

Spring Break Activities

No plans to hit the beach or the big city this year for spring break? No worries; visit the Nappanee Public Library for a week full of creative fun! The Children’s Department has scheduled a lineup of daily open activities and special programs to keep little bodies busy and families entertained.

Monday through Friday, April 6-12
10 a.m. until 4 p.m.: Stop in for open Lego building, art projects and life size versions of classic games. Line up four checkers for a win, pull a block from the tower without a tumble or sneak a stick without a “kerplunk.”

Tuesday, April 7
1 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. or 1:40 p.m. until 2:10 p.m.: Can you draw with your eyes closed? With Drew the Doodlyzoink you can. Artist, Richard Scott Morris, brings this one-of-a-kind show to the Library to amaze and teach kids to trust their instincts. Participants of all ages will enjoy interactive drawing with Morris and his puppet friend, Drew. Register by Tuesday, March 31.

Wednesday, April 8
1 p.m. until 3 p.m.: A cooking rat makes an unusual alliance with a young kitchen worker in a special showing of an animated feature film in the upper level meeting rooms. Popcorn will be served, and all ages are welcome.

Saturday, April 9
11 a.m. until 1 p.m.: Make a lighthouse craft from party cups in the Children’s Craft Room and play life size classic games throughout the building.
1 p.m. until 4 p.m.: Pick up a board game from the Children’s Services Desk and challenge a friend or two. Life size Classic games will also be available throughout the building.

Pinterest Night

A trendy tote is the next project on the docket for Pinterest Night at the Nappanee Public Library. Crafters will meet in the Cube, the Library’s new makerspace, From 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8. All materials will be provided to make a geometric stenciled tote bag. Cost is $5 per tote. Registration required by Wednesday, April 1.

All ages are welcome, but children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Pinterest Night is designed as a collaborative, learn-as-you-make program where participants share ideas and tips to complete popular projects found on Pinterest, the virtual bulletin board and Internet hub for bookmarking lifestyle links and images.
