The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning parable, “Doubt” by John Patrick Shanley is set to open the Round Barn Theatre’s 2015 season March 27 in the Locke Township Meeting House at Amish Acres, Nappanee.

“Doubt” opened on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre in 2005, and ran for more than 500 performances winning the Tony Award for best play and Pulitzer Prize for drama. The play was eventually turned into an Academy Award nominated film starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and Viola Davis.

The play is set in the fictional St. Nicholas Church and School, in the Bronx, during the fall of 1964. In this brilliant and powerful drama, “Doubt” tells the story of a Catholic school principal who questions a priest’s ambiguous relationship with a troubled young student. All the elements come invigoratingly together like clockwork in this provocative, gripping story that is less about scandal than about fascinatingly nuanced questions of moral certainty.

This impassioned theatrical drama will be directed by the Round Barn Theatre’s most tenured performer, Joe Ford. Ford was featured prominently in the 2014 season as Seymour in “Little Shop of Horrors,” Professor Bhaer in “Little Women” and is making his directorial debut. “Doubt” stars fellow alumni and perennial leading lady, Amber Burgess as the school principle Sister Aloysius Beauvier, along with Nicole Tompkins, newcomer Myesha-Tiara and Round Barn Theatre Artistic Director Jeremy Littlejohn as Father Flynn.

“Doubt” opens March 27 and runs on the weekends through April 12 with 2 p.m. matinees and 8 p.m. evening performances. Act quickly, as with only 1,000 available seats, tickets are selling fast. Once again, the opening of the Round Barn Theatre season will coincide with the opening of Amish Acres Historic Farm & Heritage Resort Friday, March 27.

Famous family style threshers dinner will be served in the century old barn restaurant along with tours of the historic house and farm and quaint shops. Amish Acres is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, and will serve the threshers dinner buffet style from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Easter Sunday, April 5.

2015 Round Barn Theatre season tickets remain on sale and include six incredible musicals and one drama including “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” “Plain and Fancy,” “Grease,” “Anything Goes,” “Smoke on the Mountain,” “Harvey” and for the holiday season, the practically perfect “Mary Poppins.” All seven of these dynamic and entertaining productions can be purchased for $129.95.

Season subscriptions can also be combined with threshers dinner or the popular Friday night theme dinner. The unique theme dinner menu is designed to reflect and compliment each of the seven shows. Theatre and theme dinner schedules and menus can be found at AmishAcres.com or by calling the Box Office at (800) 800-4942, ext. 2.
