Valley Salutes Winter Sports Athletes

Tippy Valley SportsAKRON – Tippecanoe Valley High School honored its winter athletes at an awards program Thursday night.

Anne Secrest earned four awards for the girls basketball team which earned a Class 3-A state runner-up finish last weekend. The sophomore picked up honors for Field Goal Percentage. Free Throw Percentage, Rebounds and Steals.

Senior Taylor Trippiedi was given the Mental Attitude, Captains and Booster Club awards. Senior Caylie Teel earned the Assists and Captains. Hannah Dunn received Most Improved, Meredith Brouyette the 3-Point Percentage and Karis Tuckers the Captains award.

Alex Thacker was chosen as the MVP for the boys basketball team. Thacker also earned the Captains Award.

Also earning honors from the boys basketball team were Chandler O’Connor (Field Goal Percentage, Free Throw Percentage), Gavin Bussard (3-Point Percentage, Mental Attitude), Neil Clampitt (3-Point Percentage, Rebounds) and Jarred Littlejohn (Assists, Captains, Booster Club).

Tyler Ross was named MVP, along with Captain and Booster Club Award for the boys swim team.

Also honored from the swim squad were Chase Brower (Most Improved, Work Ethic), Tom Solano (Mental Attitude) and Dan Alexander (Rookie of the Year).

The duo of Lea Stouder and Katie Gunter were selected as MVPs for the girls swim team. Stouder was also the Rookie of the Year and Gunter earned a Captains Award.

Also honored from the girls team were Hannah Jones (Most Improved), Sarah Jones (Mental Attitude, Captains), Joy Hurd (Captains, Booster Club) and Julia Pomeroy (Work Ethic).

Devin Childers was saluted as MVP of the wrestling team. Childers also earned a Captains Award.

Also honored from the wrestling team were Gary Long (Mental Attitude, Captains, Booster Club), Josh Back (Most Improved), Cody Runyon (Fastest Pin, Captains), Garrett Bell (Most Pins) and Wyatt Nelson (Mr. Takedown, Captains).

Tabitha Baldridge earned Most Outstanding and Captain honors for the cheerleading squad.

Also honored were cheerleaders Olivia Bell (Mental Attitude JV), Laira Myers (Mental Attitude Varsity), Leslee France (Captains, Booster Club). The trio of Kayla Shepherd, Kaira Hackworth and Salleigh Torpy all earned Captains Awards.
