Joretta Joanne Kerschner north manchester obituaryJoretta Joanne Kerschner, 76, North Manchester died at 2:14 am, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She was born July 31, 1938, in Wabash County to Oscar and Grace (Robinson) Summers.

Joretta was a 1956 graduate of Chili High School. She married Paul R. Kerschner at the Center Chapel First Brethren Church in Miami County, on June 20, 1956; he died May 2, 2011. She worked at Snyder’s Market for24 years and Lance’s New Market for18 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of the North Manchester First Brethren Church. She enjoyed reading, and working crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by three children: Donald W. Kerschner, North Manchester, James D. Kerschner, Broadview Heights, Ohio, and Paula Jo Platt, North Manchester, six grandchildren: David (Felicia) Kerschner and Daniel Kerschner, both of Huntington, Andrew (Amy) Kerschner, Canton, Ga., Khristopher Kerschner and Wayde Platt, both of North Manchester, Lynette (Vincent) Calloway, Columbia City; six great-grandchildren; sister: Juanita Mays, Peru, and two brothers: David (Connie) Summers, Wabash, and Scott (Stephanie) Summers, Roann.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Francis Summers; sister: Annette Stout; and grandson: Bryan Platt.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 11 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, with Pastor Kurt Stout officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Stephens Ministries at the North Manchester First Brethren Church.
