Warriors Continue Winning Ways
SYRACUSE – The Wawasee boys basketball team continued its late-season surge Wednesday night.
A big shooting night from distanced paced the host Warriors past Mishawaka 54-40.
Wawasee, which has improved to 11-10 with four straight wins, hit 11 3-pointers in defeating the Cavemen.
Aaron Voirol swished through five shots from deep to pace the winning Warriors with a game-high 20 points.
Wawasee led 16-11 after the opening period and 29-28 at halftime. The Warriors, coming off a home win over Eastside Tuesday night, then outscored Mishawaka 25-12 in the final half.
Gage Reinhard netted 16 points for Wawasee.
Mishawaka hit five triples in the contest, which was rescheduled after being postponed due to weather.
The Cavemen, who have lost eight of their last nine games, drop to 7-14. The lone win for Mishawaka in that stretch was a 48-37 home win over Concord Tuesday night.
Wawasee won the junior varsity contest 52-44 Wednesday night.
Wawasee plays at Tippecanoe Valley Friday night in the regular-season finale. The Warriors then face Whitko Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the opener of the Class 3-A West Noble Sectional.
