Kenneth Eugene Leatherman, 68, Syracuse, died Friday, Feb. 20, at IU Health Goshen.
He was born Oct. 16, 1946, in Kendallville, to Ernest and Virginia Leatherman.
He attended Albion High school. He attended Indiana University for two years. He owned and operated Ride On Customs in 1975. He owned and operated Starline Vans, with his brother David, in the 1980s. He started in real estate in 1977. In 1993 he moved to Syracuse to be closer to his family and his church and he started Leatherman Realty. In 2003 he expanded his real estate business with Melody Cusick to form Re/Max Partners in Syracuse.
His hobbies included restoring Studebaker cars and trucks, traveling, riding his Harley Davidson and boating. He dearly loved spending his time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren.
He had a very strong faith and was quick to share that as a leader. He had a regular bible study that met every Wednesday evening and he attended Dewart Lake Community Friends Church regularly.
He was a kind, gentle, patient caring man who was loved by all who met him.
Kenneth leaves behind his wife LuAnn Leatherman, son Robert (Beth) Leatherman of Crawfordsville, Fla.; daughter Amy (James) Cavender of North Webster, son Matthew (Gretchen) Leatherman of Ligonier, step-daughter Jennifer (Matthew) Buhrt of Warsaw, step-son Nathaniel (Lisa) Gage of Wabash and step-son Joshua Gage of Fort Wayne. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren. He is survived by his brother David Leatherman of Albion and his sister Kay (Lynn) Rice of Albion.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Brazzell Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb 26, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 605 E Main St, Albion, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Keith Huffman and Pastor Dan Burnham will be officiating.
Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery, west of Albion directly after the service.
