KENDALLVILLE – A short-handed Wawasee gymnastics squad couldn’t keep pace with host East Noble Friday night in a 99.15-94.7 final.
The meet, made up from earlier in the month from a weather delay, had Wawasee missing two of its top gymnasts to injury. Taylor Busse was a scratch Friday due to a sprained foot suffered earlier in the week and Molly Smith was a late scratch after sustaining an injury during warm-ups Friday night.
Wawasee was led by Reagan Atwood, who had the top event score in each round for the Lady Warriors. Atwood scored an 8.75 on vault, 8.05 on bars, 9.0 on beam and 8.4 on floor to post a 34.2 all-around tally. Chipping in for the Lady Warriors were Meghan Beer on floor (7.5) and Ashleigh Frecker on vault (8.45).
Beer won the JV vault scoring with a 7.7 and LeighAnn Shrack had the top junior floor score at 7.5.
Wawasee (4-4 overall) will return to action Tuesday with a home meet against Plymouth.
