Indiana To Celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana University Athletics will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports day on Saturday, Feb. 21 in conjunction with the IU women’s basketball game vs. Nebraska in Assembly Hall. The day will highlight and celebrate female excellent and achievement.
Many fun events are scheduled, including an IU Varsity Sports Clinic and a Family Festival with number of family friendly activities.
Registration for the IU Varsity Sports Clinic will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET inside Gladstein Fieldhouse. The clinic will be from 10-11 a.m. and student-athletes from IU’s field hockey, volleyball, rowing, women’s soccer and cheerleading programs will participate in the event. Fans can enter the fieldhouse through the southeast entrance near Gate 14 off of Fee Lane.
The Family Festival will start at 10:30 a.m. inside the South Lobby of Assembly Hall. Interactive booths from local businesses and groups will be set up throughout the lobby. In addition to other family-oriented activities, the festival will include face painting, free caricature sketches and autographs from the Indiana athletic programs that participated in the clinic.
At Noon, the Indiana women’s basketball team will take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Branch McCracken Court inside of Assembly Hall. At the conclusion of the game, the team will remain on the court to meet with anyone in attendance.
All of these activities are free with a ticket to the women’s basketball game.
