Chance Nicholas Beck, 17, of Macy, and formerly of Akron, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at his residence.
He was born on June 23, 1997, Whitley County, to Andrew E. Beck and Julie A. Carr. Chance was a Tippecanoe Valley High School Junior.
In earlier years he played baseball, basketball and football. For many years and currently he was very involved in the TVHS soccer program where he had been co-captain. He had received many academic awards that he displayed on his letter jacket. He was a member and enjoyed working out at the Wellness Center of Rochester. Many people loved him.

He is survived by his mother: Julie Shepherd (companion Barry Vigar), Macy; father: Andrew Beck (companion Tonia Smith), Rochester; second mom: Katrina Calloway, North Manchester; sisters: Shana Lynn Leonhardt, Indianapolis; and Gracie Beck, Rochester; brothers: Joshua (Angela) Bailey, North Manchester; Wade Beck, Rochester; Noah Beck, North Manchester; Deontee Smith, Rochester; Steven Poe, Rochester; Braydyn Poe, Rochester, Ind.; maternal grandmother: Diane and Paul Bravell, Fort Wayne; paternal grandparents: Dennis and Annette Ayres, North Manchester; paternal great-grandmother: Grace Kester, North Manchester; several cousins, aunts, uncles and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Phillip Carr; paternal grandfather: Roger Guthrie.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Akron Church of God, 301 S. West St., Akron, and will be officiated by Rev. Susan Keirn-Kester and Pastor Michael McFarland.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chance Beck Memorial Fund via Bippus State Bank of North Manchester or Hartzler Funeral Home.
