PONETO – A big effort in the third quarter enabled the Whitko boys basketball team to rally past Southern Wells Tuesday night.

The hosts led 26-22 at halftime before the Wildcats used a 21-11 edge in the third quarter and went on to post a 55-46 win.

Nate Walpole canned 17 points to lead the winning Wildcats.

River West had a strong game with 15 points. Devon Adkins scored nine points, Tanner Gaff eight and Cole Kessie six for Whitko.

Whitko improves to 5-12 on the season and Southern Wells drops to 2-14.

Whitko plays at North Miami Friday in a TRC game. Southern Wells hosts Blue River on Saturday.
