UPDATE: According to Mentone Fire Department Chief Mike Yazel, several animals perished in the fire, including multiple sheep, goats, pigs, cats and calfs. No humans were harmed.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a heat lamp in one of the animal areas. Total damage is estimated to be up to $15,000.

Mentone Fire Department has been called to respond to a report of a small barn on fire at 7998 West SR 25, Mentone.
