Lakeland Christian Academy’s Senior girls basketball players got a unique and fun sendoff before their final home game wearing the Cougar uniform Thursday night. The night had been previously dubbed “Hawaiian Night,” and students and adults alike seemed to be embracing the theme over the course of the day’s three basketball games.

The afternoon started with the middle school girls game, followed by junior varsity girls then the senior ceremonies and varsity girls game. All three games were against Blackhawk Christian School of Fort Wayne. LCA won the middle school game, but dropped the next two to Blackhawk.

There were games like a hula-hoop and limbo competitions during the half time of each game, decorations throughout the gym and even hotdogs at the concession stand that had barbecue sauce and pineapples on them to pay homage to the famous Hawaiian flavors.

Four seniors were honored, and were joined on the court by their parents. The seniors are Ashley Ormsby, Emily McCoomb, Joselyn Helton and Maryl Gerst.
