LAGRANGE – The Whitko girls basketball team guaranteed itself a winning record with a win Tuesday night.

The Wildcats picked up win number 12 by downing potential sectional opponent Lakeland 48-39.

Aly Reiff led all scorers with 26 points, including a 12-point effort in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats outscored the hosts 23-10 in the final frame.

Brianna Cumberland added another 11 points for Whitko and Jennifer Reiff scored six points.

Lakeland was led by Abi Thompson’s 12 points.

Whitko, winners of four in a row, improves to 12-7. Lakeland drops to 9-11.

Whitko will return home Saturday night for a Three Rivers Conference contest against Wabash (15-3). Tip is set for 7:45 p.m.  Lakeland plays at Garrett Friday night.
