UPLAND – For the first time since the 2008-2009 season the No. 8 ranked Bethel College men’s basketball team left Upland with a win as the Pilots silenced Taylor University 70-50 Tuesday night in Crossroads League play.
Clay Yeo was the catalyst for Bethel as the 6-5 sophomore poured in 31 points in the league win. The former Triton High School star also had 14 rebounds, four assists and three blocks on the evening.
Senior Matt Schuss, fresh off his NAIA DII National Player of the Week honor, added 17 points, eight rebounds and two assists.
Bethel shot 48 percent from the field on 24-of-50 shooting while sinking 7-of-17 from beyond the arc (41.2 percent). Defensively the Pilots flexed their muscles holding Taylor to just 20 second half points while shooting 32.2 percent for the game.
Bethel (18-3, 6-3) continues their road trip as the head to to top-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday at 3 p.m. for a top ten clash.
