Martin’s Supermarket, Warsaw, donated money received from their photo with Santa Event in early December and presented it to Julia Moore of the Bailey R. Moore Foundation. A total of $1,400 was raised through the Santa photo opportunity, sale of shirts and cash donations.

All proceeds go towards the Bailey R. Moore Foundation Scholarship which is awarded each May to a senior from Warsaw Community Schools.

Bailey Moore had a wish to do something for her school when she was finished with treatment for leukemia. That occurred sooner than expected after a 7 1/2 month battle. Her desire to help others accomplish their dreams is made possible through the scholarships. She died on March 3, 2011, at the age of 14.

The scholarships are awarded to graduating Warsaw Community High School seniors who attended Edgewood Middle School. In some fashion, cancer has affected their lives and they have been able to turn the tragic illness into a positive force moving them forward.
