In April 2010, the Environmental Protection Agency’s Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule came into effect. This leader based paint regulation required the initial training of contractors who disturbed painted or coated surfaces in residences and/or child occupied facilities built prior to 1978.

The RRP Rule requires refresher training for certified lead renovators every five years.

Builder’s Association Kosciusko Fulton Counties has contracted with Nova Environmental Inc., to provide the certified Lead Renovator Refresher Training Program for those members that took the initial training in 2009 and 2010.

This training program will be offered at the BAKFC office, 523 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw, Wednesday, Jan. 28 and Wednesday, Feb. 25. Both classes will be from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $175 for members, $275 for non-members. Class size is limited.

If attendance in these two classes is good, BAKFC will consider scheduling additional classes in the spring.

Participants who successfully complete the four-hour course shall be provided Lead Renovator Certification for a period of five years.

However, it is required that the trainer retain a copy of the initial certificate of the participant in order to issue the refresher certificate. Those who took the original class from an organization other than bAKFC will need to bring a copy of the initial certificate to the refresher training.

Nova Environmental, Inc., has been providing expert environmental training for over 25 years. The instructional staff are professional trainers who have years of experience in the lead industry. They share this knowledge through learned techniques that keep participants interested.
