Margaret M. Zimmerman 89, of Syracuse, formerly of Goshen, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at Millers Merry Manor, Syracuse, where she had resided for the past four months.

She was born Nov. 1, 1925 in Dolton, Ill., to Andrew and Angeline (Panozzo) Panega.

A 1943 graduate of Pullman Tech High School in Chicago, she married John G. Zimmerman in Chicago on Aug. 25, 1945. He died Dec. 15, 2000.

She is survived by two sons, Jack C. (Diane) Zimmerman, Syracuse, and Alan M. (Patricia) Zimmerman, Cromwell and Port Charlotte Harbor, Fla.; two grandchildren, Lance Zimmerman, Indianapolis, and Margaret Bean, Warsaw; a great-granddaughter, Mary Ann Bean; a step-grandson, Eric (Tracy) Brown, Millersburg; four step-great grandchildren, Zachary, Tian, Meilee and Roan; and a brother, Andy (Sandy) Panega, Schererville.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria Dierkes and Marie Kellen, and a brother, Charles Panega.

A homemaker, Mrs. Zimmerman was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

There will be no visitation service. A private family service will be at a later date.

Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Osceola.
