Carter, MarjorieMarjorie Carter, 81, North Manchester, Ind., passed away at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born Aug. 17, 1933, in Lafayette, Ind., to Henry and Josephine (Hamilton) Haywood. She married Cecil C. Carter in 1950.

She graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette. A member of Women of the Moose in Goshen and Wabash, Ind., American Legion Auxiliary Post 836, North Manchester, and VFW Auxiliary, Lafayette. She was past state president of the Marine Corp League Women’s Auxiliary Lafayette Chapter. She was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church, Lafayette. She enjoyed oil painting, baking and setting around the campfire at the lake with her grandchildren and friends.

She is survived by three sons: Cecil C. (Penny) Carter, White City, Kan., Curtis (Regina) Carter, West Lebanon, Ind., and Richard Carter, West Lebanon, Ind.; a daughter: Kelly (Mark) Benton, North Manchester; a brother, Bob (Sharon) Haywood, Lafayette; a sister, Dolly Parker, Lafayette; nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A son, Michael Joe Carter, a grandson, Cpl. Curtis A. Carter, and a brother, James Haywood, are deceased.
