Shana Hutcherson, 39, Syracuse, was not injured in an early morning accident today, but a passenger was taken to Elkhart General Hospital.. The accident was on Old US 20, east of CR 13 in northern Elkhart County at 4:20 a.m.

Uzziel Martinez, 31, Goshen, the injured passenger, complained of pain to the face.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation as a female driver of a 2010 GMC Terrain fled the scene.

Officers report the driver of the GMC was eastbound on Old US 20, east of CR 13, when the vehicle went off the south side of the road, then came back on the roadway, going left of center and colliding with Hutcherson’s 2008 Jeep Liberty head-on. The unknown female then fled the scene.
