Mentone Police Officers Jim Eades and Officer Terry Engstrand recognized Mentone Elementary Students not for their good behavior, but who went above and beyond at school.

The two decided to ask Mentone businesses to get involved by donating a prize to be awarded to the students along with a certificate. A student from each grade level will be selected each month by the classroom teachers for this award. December winners received a free pizza from Wilby’s Mini Mart, Mentone.

Honored in December were: Grayson Waldo, kindergarten; Harvey Hayes, first grade; Camila Aguilar, second grade; Jorge LeLaRose, third grade; Corina Stiles, fourth grade; and Sydney Peterson, fifth grade.
